Our Summer in Videos

We have had the busiest summer in quite a while. No complaints here, busy is good! We haven’t had a whole lot of time to sit down and write quality blog posts, but we have had a camera on hand. Sometimes it’s much more convenient to just film the moments we want to share with you, and that’s exactly what we did. We devoted our time to Warped Tour and LeakyCon this summer — meaning not only did we attend these events, but we designed all new products to go along with them, and sold them ourselves at booths. All the labor is done by yours truly, hard work isn’t always glamorous, friends. Being able to interact directly with our customers is one of our most favorite things to do. You guys are always so awesome. Now onto the videos! We hope you enjoy them.

This video was filmed pre Warped and LeakyCon. It was the night before the public opening of the Diagon Alley expansion at Universal Studios Orlando, and we decided it would be a good idea to eat Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. Spoiler alert: it’s not. This video features two of the five Harry Potter inspired T-shirts we created just for LeakyCon. You can buy them here!

We only did the 3 Florida dates of Vans Warped Tour this year instead of the 8 we tackled last year. I can guarantee you, though, that the experience proved to be just as sweaty and busy. Tour was undeniably different this year, but we did everything we could to make our brief time memorable. Sidenote: we did quickly find out that the reason the tent next to us had an immense line of excited girls in front of it was because of YouTuber VeeOneEye. He was very sweet to his fans, and gave his full attention to every single person he met.

This was, easily, our favorite of the three to film. All of the footage was recorded via our iPhones, so we apologize for the grainy quality. On the second day at LeakyCon we decided to put up a simple green sign promising free candy to anyone willing to share their favorite Danisnotonfire and/or AmazingPhil quote with us. We were shocked by the amount of people not only eager to share, but who let us film them for a YouTube compilation. People LOVE Dan and Phil.

We just want to say, thank you to everyone we met this summer for being so awesome. Going into new or chaotic situations is sometimes overwhelming and a bit stressful, but everyone we met (besides the inevitable party poopers of the world) was wonderful. Thank you for making our summer a great one!

Two Big Announcements!

This winter has been a significant one for us. We moved our company from Indianapolis and set up a brand new office in Orlando, and we used that transition to really plan and brainstorm what Fellow Threads is all about. It may seem like we’ve been somewhat quiet these past few months, when really we have been tirelessly developing brand new products and finalizing our upcoming spring and summer adventures. Well, it’s finally time to start bringing all of our hard work to life! On Friday night, we took to Twitter with two, huge announcements:

slideshow_2On March 14, we are releasing ALL NEW beautiful products for spring and summer. We have new styles of denim customization, and we plan on keeping our most popular T-shirt designs in stock (possibly updating a few). Most excitingly, however, we are introducing, for the first time, a selection of bags. All of the bags are hand-stitched by us and the fabric is personally selected by our head designer and founder, Lauren. Futhermore, and what you don’t see from the preview image above, is that there will be multiple versions of these bags to choose from that are aimed to fit each of your individual styles. We truly believe you guys will love the bags just as much as we do. Be sure to visit fellowthreads.com to get your hands on them!

Many of you guessed it! We are officially back on Vans Warped Tour this summer! We had such an amazing time last summer that we just couldn’t pass up the chance to experience it all again. We were completely taken aback by how supportive and enthusiastic and lovely you guys were in person, and we want to see you all again, and meet even more of you this time around. Like last time, we are opting for select dates of the tour rather than the entire shabang, so when we have the dates and locations locked down we will post them ASAP. We can’t wait to be back on the road! You can check out our adventures from Warped Tour 2013 on our main website!

We are thrilled with how our summer is turning out so far, and it hasn’t even happened yet. Make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to receive updates and information about everything mentioned above. This is just the tip of the iceberg, people. We have even more planned for you guys, but we’re just going to let all of this simmer for now. Get ready. Things are about to get exciting and, should I say, magical around here.

To 2014 and Beyond

Happy 2014, friends! It’s a brand new year, and that means brand new everything. For so many, a new year means a fresh start, but it’s also the perfect time to reflect. We are very big believers in living in the moment and tackling opportunities head on, however, we also believe in learning and growing from past experiences. So many defining moments happened in 2013. In fact, it has been our most adventurous year yet. We were lucky enough to travel with Vans Warped Tour, we moved the company from Indianapolis to Orlando, we are slowly, but surely, gaining attention overseas. It’s a lot, and at times overwhelming, but only in the best way. It’s nice to be busy doing something you love. Having said that, we gladly resolve to work smarter, not harder, in 2014. Don’t get me wrong, we aren’t afraid of hard work — this business would be nothing without it (and our Warped experience will always be nostalgic blend of blood, sweat and tears) — we just plan to take what we learned this past year and refine it. In the spirit of reflection, here are some of our most favorite, special moments from 2013.

So, we want to know: What are your resolutions for 2014? What do you want to do better? Mainly, we want to continue working passionately, maintaining a close relationship with our customers. To our most loyal clientele, to anyone who has just browsed the site, or liked an Instagram post, we can’t thank you enough. Your support is everything, and if we have inspired you in any way, then we consider our job well done. Now, here’s to making 2014 even better!

Birthday Q&A: Lauren

Today we celebrate the birthday of our very own founder and head designer, Lauren. She is the brains behind Fellow Threads, meaning none of this would exist if it weren’t for her. I can still remember when our little business was just an idea. Since then we’ve designed for bands, donated a substantial amount back to charity, traveled with Vans Warped Tour, met so many incredible people and launched our third collection. It hasn’t always been easy, but it keeps getting better and it wouldn’t have been possible without Lauren. So, thank you, Lauren, for your creativity and courage to do something outside the box.

Laurenbirthday

Now, onto the questions!

What is the last song you listened to? “R U Crazy” by Conor Maynard, my latest and greatest British music find.

If there was ever a movie made about your life, which actress would you want to play you? Reese Witherspoon or Kate Hudson, who also happen to be my consistent fashion inspirations.

What is your go-to Starbucks drink? Double tall nonfat toffee nut latte with whip.

What is your all-time favorite Disney movie? The Little Mermaid! First movie I ever saw in theaters too.

What is your favorite trend at the moment? Knee/thigh socks with skirts and shorts for winter. Cute for casual or dressing up, and shows the world that cold weather doesn’t get in your way!

If you could only receive one gift today, what would it be? World peace. No, but really. That’d be nice.

Make sure you are following Lauren on Twitter and Instagram, and don’t forget to wish her a happy birthday!

TOP 5: Personal Standouts of Vans Warped Tour ’13

This post was particularly hard for us to put together seeing as there were 90+ bands on tour, and choosing just five seemed completely impossible, not to mention unfair. We quickly realized, however, that this being our blog, we can rank these guys however we want! The bands we chose are the ones we felt we had some personal connection with… whether that be Wallpaper. whom the great Gabbie Brown introduced us to or Action Item whom we’ve known for years… each band has standout qualities that we loved seeing every day on tour.

In Chicago Annie and I took a small break from our vending duties to catch the end of Wallpaper’s set. Our close friend and Kia pit reporter, Gabbie Brown, had told us nothing but incredible things about their music, so we were expecting good, but what we got was freaking phenomenal. Within seconds we were both jumping and dancing like fools, while occasionally shouting, “This is SO good!” Ever since that moment, we made it a point to have daily Wallpaper. dance parties. Their new album, Ricky Reed is Real, is out now on iTunes and, I kid you not, there isn’t one bad song. If you want to have the best damn day of your life, buy it immediately and puke your brains out with the rest of us.

It was also in Chicago that Lauren got a chance to slip away for a few minutes to catch her first Five Knives show. Again, Miss Gabbie Brown is the one to thank in this case. Lauren came back almost speechless. “You just have to see them for yourselves,” was really all she could say. When we all got the chance to watch Five Knives together, it was pretty much the same reaction. Can you describe a band as just “wow,” because we’re going to. They are excitedly unpredictable and their interaction with the crowd keeps you on your toes the entire set. A little bird told us they’re taking a break to record their next album, so in the meantime support them by purchasing their latest album, The Rising.

We actually first met Itch and Alejandro walking through the bus parking lot in Cleveland. They introduced themselves and we promised we’d see their set if we got a chance. Luckily, in Atlanta we got placed directly across from the Spotify stage so we got a front row spot. At the risk of sounding cheesy, their set was incredibly powerful. We knew Itch to be outspoken and opinionated, but with these three backing him up, the show was unstoppable every single time. We also loved how Itch rolled his wheelchair out into the crowd. People gathered around out of curiosity and stayed from pure amazement.

When we found out that Action Item was going to be a part of this year’s Warped Tour we were so excited. We’ve known these guys for a few years now, so we were already familiar with their music and them as individuals. It just made more sense for us to be there. Action Item is, unashamedly, a pop band from New Jersey. Every single show, many of which we side-staged it for, outdid the one before. For most of the tour the guys had Jeremy Smith from Days Difference standing in on keyboards. When Jeremy left it was a true test of Action Item as a foursome, and it was truly outstanding. They will have no problem carrying themselves in the late fall on The Us Against Them Tour with Jake Miller and Air Dubai. These four are solid.

aswfont1Lauren and Annie have known Allstar Weekend since 2009 when the band was just named “Allstar.” Their addition to the tour helped us make our final decision in joining as well. It was especially awesome, and bittersweet, having the opportunity to watch them every day considering their stretch on Warped marked their last performances as Allstar Weekend. In the coming weeks, ASW is announcing their new name and new musical direction, an extremely exciting and much-needed change-of-pace for the band. While it will be tough for many of their die hard fan girls to move on from this gigantic change, we see it as nothing but positive. Life isn’t interesting without change, and we’re glad they’re taking the opportunity while they can. Do you, Allstar Weekend. Or should we say, The Artists Formerly Known as Allstar Weekend.

SIKE! We’re doing six, because Alvarez Kings simply cannot be left out. We wouldn’t feel right about posting this list without at least mentioning these guys. We only got the chance to finally see them when we were placed across from the Insidious/Kevin Says stage in Tampa, but we were highly aware of their presence the entire time we were on tour. They were, easily, one of the hardest working bands we saw. They set up and tore down their own merch tent. They held their own signs. We saw them out and about everywhere promoting themselves. Not only that, but their set was excellent. Your dedication, hard work and awesome music did not go unnoticed, you British Kings of Alvarez.

The great thing about Warped Tour is that it features so many different types of bands, there’s something for everyone. We had a great summer with these people, and we can’t wait to see where they’ll go next. We predict big things. Let us know what you think about our top choices! We would love to know what your top bands are!
