Two Big Announcements!

This winter has been a significant one for us. We moved our company from Indianapolis and set up a brand new office in Orlando, and we used that transition to really plan and brainstorm what Fellow Threads is all about. It may seem like we’ve been somewhat quiet these past few months, when really we have been tirelessly developing brand new products and finalizing our upcoming spring and summer adventures. Well, it’s finally time to start bringing all of our hard work to life! On Friday night, we took to Twitter with two, huge announcements:

slideshow_2On March 14, we are releasing ALL NEW beautiful products for spring and summer. We have new styles of denim customization, and we plan on keeping our most popular T-shirt designs in stock (possibly updating a few). Most excitingly, however, we are introducing, for the first time, a selection of bags. All of the bags are hand-stitched by us and the fabric is personally selected by our head designer and founder, Lauren. Futhermore, and what you don’t see from the preview image above, is that there will be multiple versions of these bags to choose from that are aimed to fit each of your individual styles. We truly believe you guys will love the bags just as much as we do. Be sure to visit to get your hands on them!

Many of you guessed it! We are officially back on Vans Warped Tour this summer! We had such an amazing time last summer that we just couldn’t pass up the chance to experience it all again. We were completely taken aback by how supportive and enthusiastic and lovely you guys were in person, and we want to see you all again, and meet even more of you this time around. Like last time, we are opting for select dates of the tour rather than the entire shabang, so when we have the dates and locations locked down we will post them ASAP. We can’t wait to be back on the road! You can check out our adventures from Warped Tour 2013 on our main website!

We are thrilled with how our summer is turning out so far, and it hasn’t even happened yet. Make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to receive updates and information about everything mentioned above. This is just the tip of the iceberg, people. We have even more planned for you guys, but we’re just going to let all of this simmer for now. Get ready. Things are about to get exciting and, should I say, magical around here.

A Very Disney Christmas

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Epcot and the Magic Kingdom during the holidays. Just as you would expect with Disney, it was magical, and now that we live minutes from the parks we are able to visit whenever we have free time. There is, however, something innately and almost inexplicably special about Disney World during Christmastime.

We went to Epcot on Christmas Eve and while some might consider it the lesser of the Disney Parks, thrill-wise anyway, but we would happily disagree. If Disney does anything well (and they do), they are brilliant at creating an experience. For a few hours, you can confidently pretend you’re walking through the streets of Germany, or enjoying French pastries in a boulangerie. A favorite spot for us is The Rose and Crown Pub located in the U.K. area of the World Showcase. *That’s a huge plus about Epcot — unlike the other three Disney Parks, they serve alcohol!* At night we enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at Cafe Marrakesh in Morocco, complete with falafel, hummus, lamb kebabs and belly dancers.

We, of course, saved the Magic Kingdom for Christmas day. When you visit any Disney park, especially during the holidays, you have to accept the fact that your day will include lots of waiting. The parks will be jam-packed, the attraction lines will be long (as well as the bathrooms) and the chances of people getting testy are high. You have to look at the bigger picture: you are in the happiest place on earth, so don’t forget to take in the experience. There is so much to do! The New Fantasyland expansion and the Starbucks addition on Main Street are just a couple of the newer treasures we experienced. We always love Splash Mountain, even in 60 degrees, and we always love The Haunted Mansion. Waiting in line for that is half the fun! Plus, the entire park is decorated beautifully. They even shoot out fake snow over Main Street.

We can’t wait to have more Disney adventures — we’re even planning some photo shoots around the area. It’s such an inspiring place to be, it makes you feel like you can accomplish anything if you just work hard. We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday break, and that the new year brings you everything you want and need. Also, we hope those trapped in below freezing temperatures and entirely too much snow are staying safe and warm! Don’t forget to bring your animals inside! If you’re already over winter and forever dreaming about warmer weather, by all means check out our denim shorts on the website. Every pair is designed, customized and fitted just for you! We’re already planning for our spring/summer adventures, so be sure to stay tuned for more.

Trends We Love: denim on denim

Very much like the classic t-shirt in our last post, denim is an undeniable staple in every wardrobe. At the moment, we feel denim is so vital, particularly, to one’s summer wardrobe, that we have fallen in love with the chic simplicity of full-on denim-on-denim outfits. Every year this trend seems to pop up, but now we’ve accepted it, we’re committed and we’re dating. We’re talking tailored chambray button-downs paired with frayed and hole-ridden cut-offs, even skinny jeans. Mix and match shades and textures to create dimension in your outfit (but mainly to avoid the whole Canadian tuxedo look). Or just decide you’re wearing a Canadian tux, and wear it proudly, because someone somewhere out there will look at you and think, “Why didn’t I think of that!?”

Having said all that, denim head-to-toe, when done wrong, can be bad. Very bad. Hideous even. (Cue Justin and Britney circa 2001.) But when it’s done right, it’s spectacular. And luckily for you, we happen to specialize in hand-crafted reconstructed denim cut-offs. Remember, if you wear any of our clothing, we will feature you on the website and/or Instagram!

The crop top. Let’s discuss: The perfect midriff-bearing, sleeves-optional, easy and cute warm-weather top? or An obnoxiously small baby-sized, ill-fitting pullover?

We say if Beyonce does it, then it’s a great thing. We love how she wears her flowy top over her bathing suit paired with tiny shorts. Diane Kruger is in the middle. When it comes to fashion, she is absolutely fearless. Her fitted top with overalls (which we carry!) is ingenious. Lastly, Miley (pre-buzz cut) showcasing her perfect stomach with a flowy crop worn with leggings. Lovely.

We feel like crop tops can be classic pieces. It just all depends on how you style it. And obviously, we don’t all have a Miley Cyrus body, and that’s exactly why we sell a plethora of high-waisted shorts to cover up your not so favorite parts. But we say, if you feel confident, wear it. Our Start Something crop tops come in either pink or mint green, embroidered in white. They are soft and flowy and incredibly easy to wear. Eventually, we will be expanding our crop top selection. Here’s a preview of what they look like, and how we would style them.

Now, we want to know. How do you style your crop tops? If you’re interested in knowing where we purchased any of the individual items above, please feel free to ask in the comments!
